I have decided to remake this game which will have little to do with its previous incarnation. Thats not a slight upon the game but a departure which contains entirely new concepts behind it and I can promise the map will be the best i have ever made. You can take that to the bank!.
My decision to do this is part of a new concept of games in which the second part or "sister game" will be a true European version using the same template of rules, but of course pertaining to the particuliars of that side of the world. This game will begin pre-design phase upon the conclusion of Galactic Wars game which will be a "free" game in the sense that you download the map and units and just have fun. I cant sell this game due to problems of ownership of the ship designs which are from the Battlestar Galactica/Star wars universe. You will have to print the map at your expense, and the rules. |

Since this is going to be entirely *NEW* just call it that! Maybe 'date' them such as #051-Pacific Campaign SEA, or LAND, or BOTH etc. Some folks are more into the aspects ala ''Victory in the Pacific'' or ''War at Sea I & II'', so that can just be the focal theme. While there are some more expensively obtained 'ships' that can be used, I'd look into the '1/4800th' ones from ''CinC'' in the time being unless you already have others. I guess them 'Tramp Steamers', 'Oilers', and 'Freight Liners' ARE going to come in handy now, eh wot? I've even got ''Q-ships''! German ''Commerce Raiders''! Japanese 'Flying Tank' Planes(these are the kind that SHIPS 'Oil' through the air!), Japanese 'A.S.W.' Helicopters! SUB-launched 'Air Raids'! 'P.T.-Boat & Floatplane Bases'! 'Constructed Defenses' of various kinds! Minefields! Anti-whatever! Blockhouses, Forts, Gunposts, Outposts, Ambush!...you get the idea.

yes true. Im not sure about many of the various "steamers" you mentioned, but the game will have all the primary naval/air units and im thinking to make both the european/pacific games related but not joined . Both will have the revised 5x3 perspective but at 5 x3 feet, rather than 50x30 inches. This may be revised in the pacific game due to how much of Australia i plan on drawing. Westward section of the map will be central India, while the east will become the western pacific states, so Japan has a chance to take Hollywood and make better kung fu movies. The North would include central Alaska/ Soviet and the South will possibly go to the bottom of Austrailia. I have nearly every classic wargame ever made so i could easily use something as a template, except i have many ideas that i have been stewing around with. The game will have the classic traditions of its predessors in mind, but i want to make things move along so as not to endure long playing sessions which are somewhat typical of my larger games. I basically want to finish up the game in under 5-7 hours. Freeform deployment with some basic fixed set up will be used. I have both war at sea and VITP which where some of my first wargames. In fact Galactic Wars earlier incarnations have drawn some influence from VITP.

In anticipation of the CHAT to be conducted later on this evening, I'll see about bringing up some of these points during that. If everyone were aware of the intricacies that were considered FOR the ''Victory in the Pacific'' game, then there was going to be quite the 'production' for this, but they 'found' that it was TOO much for the 'playing time constraints' that they 'envisioned'! This is being further 'refined' even now, and the ''War at Sea'' game has undergone the same treatment and is available NOW! from the fine folks at ''L2Design Group'' and yes, this is an outright PLUG for them. They are 'working' on lots of projects and they're the ones that are making the ''Russian Campaign '4' '' game and the ''Southern Expansion'' for this.

I like L2design products. They have good grafics in their games. They just take one classic after another and to the Redux. I hope they do avalon hills d-day which is one of my favorite games. Waterloo by AH was good too.
