Advanced D-Day
This Advanced D-Day gives the Allied player a full set of choices as to the time and location of his invasion. The free set up system provides less hassle and wasted time and makes for a more interesting approach and consequently more playable experience.
This is the first version of the game and as a result of extensive play testing additional versions will be forthcoming. I incorporated many special rules that might otherwise be included in the optional rules section, but I felt it was time to introduce some additional concepts such as weather, supply, and terrain effects to add an additional texture to an otherwise standard board game.
The game will typically become a slugfest where the Allied player will decimate the Germans early until the Germans too can catch their breath. An essentially rebuilt German army is posed in the middle game to strike at one last Wagnerian glory filled panzer ride which can cause serious problems for the Allies. In fact, the Allied victory in not a forgone conclusion. The proper application of advanced German weaponry can if played correctly can wear down the Allies and possibly produce a German victory. The decision as always is how you manage your armed forces. As the Allies you might try to invade at Pas de Calais as foretold by Hitler which if successful would strike quickly into the heart of the German Reich (and necessarily cutting off many German units). Or you may strike at Bay of Biscay drawing the Germans away from Germany and then latter invade North Sea causing them to run back. These are but a few of the important strategies to consider.
The rules are meant to “lead” you to the Historic path and to employ similar strategies as the generals did during the actual campaign. Remember at least once during the game when spurned to surrender reply the famous one word answer….. Nuts!
Good luck and Godspeed,
